We recommend that all dogs and cats be spayed or neutered at 4-6 months of age, unless you are planning on breeding your pet. Spaying and neutering not only prevents unwanted births, but it is a lot healthier for your pet.
  • Spaying a female dog prior to her first heat cycle decreases her risk for developing breast cancer by over 90%. It also eliminates the possibility of unwanted pregnancy and the potentially life threatening infection of the uterus.
  • Neutering a male dog can decrease some less desirable behaviors (mounting, marking and wandering). Intact males are also at an increased risk for prostatitis, prostatic enlargement and testicular tumors.
  • Spaying and neutering cats reduces roaming and fighting tendencies, which can lead to serious injuries such as being hit by a car. It also greatly reduces a male cat’s chance of acquiring feline leukemia and feline AIDS.

At PetCare, we use only the safest anesthetics. Doctors and technicians monitor vital signs such as your pet’s heartbeat, oxygen level, and blood pressure during surgery. After surgery, patients awaken in our critical care unit where they are monitored and kept warm and comfortable. A technician is present during the entire recovery process to ensure the safety of your pet. They are closely monitored through the day and night by our 24-hour doctor and nursing staff, a service rarely available elsewhere in the state. We believe that keeping our patients comfortable is of the greatest importance and that alleviating pain is an essential part of your pet's care.
